CHARLOTTE — A beloved pastor at Victory Christian Center has died. The church says pastor robyn gool lost his battle with illness on Friday night. He was 69. Church leaders say he was “an extraordinary man of God” and the community has lost an influential figure. The church is requesting privacy and no visitations are being made at this time.

Victory Christian Center is a non-denominational ministry and has locations across the city. The church has a fully serviced pre-school, elementary, and school along with a community college that includes Biblical and ministerial studies alongside secular courses. It also has a vocational arm that was introduced in 2007 and a bachelor of art degree that was added in 2012.

According to the Victory Christian Center website, Gool started his career as a pastor at Faith Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in 1979. He and his wife, Marilyn, felt led to start Victory Christian Center the following year. The church’s first service took place in a warehouse with 64 people in attendance.

The church was founded on the principle of a multi-ethnic, interfaith fellowship where Christians of all races are welcome to worship together. Its mission is to be “a spiritual force to unite all believers in Christ.” In 1995, the church was honored with an honorary doctorate from Indiana Christian University.

Besides being an influential pastor, Gool was an author. He has written several books, including For Singles Only, Proper Attitudes Toward Leadership, Don’t Block the Blessings, and more. He was also a gifted teacher and speaker. He had the ability to communicate the Bible’s teachings in an easy-to-understand way that touched many lives.

He was a great husband and father. He had two sons, and he was proud of them and what they accomplished. He always encouraged them to be their best, and he supported them in all of their endeavors. He also enjoyed playing sports with his family.
